From BI to Big Data: ORAYLIS promises to save the DWH.

A business breakfast event that is filled to maximum capacity with high-profile guests. Experts show how companies can combine Business Intelligence (BI) and Big Data homogeneously.

Düsseldorf – How do you make the leap into the Big Data era? And what is to become of the data warehouse (DWH) that has seen growth over the years? These questions are currently being asked at companies throughout industry. This suggests that the event entitled "From BI to Big Data", held as part of the ORAYLIS business breakfast series, has been a success. Before a packed audience in their Düsseldorf head office, experts from the prestigious consulting firm report on their experiences in this field. They refer to concrete solutions that combine old and new data worlds under one roof. The participants looked enthusiastic.

Is this the end for the DWH?

"We were aware that the subject involved something everybody's talking about", says ORAYLIS Managing Director Hilmar Buchta. "But we didn't expect such a high demand and such a high-profile guest list." Buchta opened the lecture series spectacularly: under the title "25 years of BI, 30 years of DWH - the end of an era?" he gave an overview of the current trends and challenges facing BI and Big Data. Next, Jens Kröhnert spoke about the possible applications for Hadoop's Big Data standards and its homogeneous incorporation into an existing BI environment. Daniel Piatkowski finally rounded off the program with a lecture on Data Vault, a new modeling method for the DWH.

More dates announced

"The event was intended to test the waters", explains Hilmar Buchta. "As a result of this positive feedback, we shall of course arrange extra dates." Initially, however, the ORAYLIS experts dedicated themselves to a topic just as important.  The comprehensive innovations of Microsoft Power BI are being presented throughout Germany from May 18th. The attractive self-service suite is now also available as a cheaper cloud service for iPad and iPhone. In this way, all user groups in the company are able to perform mobile data analysis as well as completely individual reporting. The event is free of charge. More information can be found here.
